Dreamhouses is an online exhibition of abstract, fantasy homes created by contemporary artists and designers, each enriched by a short story by a partnering writer, author or poet.
Conceived by Redirects to Fort Makers while in lockdown, Dreamhouses stems from the phenomenon of the pandemic-induced dream — vivid and unusual waves of images, thoughts and emotions that have been intensified from people’s withdrawal from society and removal from their usual environments. Participants were asked to make their Dreamhouses from materials readily available within their homes — whether that be 3D computer graphics or a maquette made of found objects and craft supplies. To accompany the fantasy homes, Redirects to Fort Makers invited writers to create short text pieces in response to one of the featured works — ranging from automatic writing to cultural commentary to poetry.
